If you intend to play music at a party, you should choose your songs well, but it is also important how you play it. Cross DJ places everything you need at your disposal, to mix your music, scratch, add effects and much more. The software includes everything you would expect from a professional mixing station and it can be integrated with numerous physical controllers. It also comes with a smart music collection and synchronization features.

The software comes in three versions, including a free one. It is available for Windows and Mac OS X and you can also find it for Android and iOS mobile platforms. Installing Cross DJ on a Windows-powered computer is quite easy and it doesn't take more than a minute to complete the operation. The software doesn't use too many resources and you don't have to install any prerequisite tools.

The user interface presents a large number of knobs and dials, but it should not present a challenge for users who know a few things about mixing music. You can compile a playlist and add your tracks on two panels. Each panel is accompanied by a wide range of controls, for adding fade effects, adjusting the playback speed, defining hot cues, memory points, loops, expanding or shrinking beat intervals and much more.

Music can be organized and prepared in the lower region of the interface. You can manage your songs in the program's own libraries, explore your local folders or browse through your iTunes playlists, on separate tabs. What's more, you can sync your music with rekordbox, along with smart playlists, metadata, hot cues, loops and memory points.

Cross DJ can be used with MIDI controllers, via USB cables. The software is compatible with over 80 controllers and it can be integrated through a straightforward plug and play system. All buttons on Cross DJ are mapped by default, so you may control your mix directly from the program's screen. You can also change the key mapping, according to your own needs. Furthermore, the program provides support for vinyl control, through a standard DVS setup. This means that you can use CDs or timecode vinyl records to control Cross DJ. Even if you decide to use vinyl records, you can still enjoy the benefits of digital music.

Pros

The software includes everything you need to mix your music. It offers smart synchronization, cueing and looping features. Also, the program can be integrated with numerous MIDI controllers and you can also control it with vinyl discs or CDs.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to address. Cross DJ will make you feel like a professional DJ, regardless of your preferred platform.
